Karen Dickman


Karen has supported the Fort Detrick military community as a government contractor for the past 17 years. In 1989, she moved to the Frederick area and worked for SHERIKON, Incorporated, a small minority-owned 8(a) business. In 2000, SHERIKON was acquired by Anteon Incorporated, which went public in 2001. In June of this year, General Dynamics, a $21 billion corporation, purchased Anteon. She is now part of the newly formed group - General Dynamics Information Technology.


Karen has leadership responsibilities within the health services group of General Dynamics Information Technology. Her customer base includes the following organizations: Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care at Fort Detrick; the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command at Fort Detrick to include the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center and the Military Operational Medicine Research Program; the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC; Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, KY; and the Army Medical Surveillance Activity in Washington, DC. She ensures her employees have the resources needed to do their job and is proud of her employees many accomplishments supporting the full spectrum of health care missions worldwide and the warfighter. Karen enjoys the diversity of her profession, which involves attending meetings, conferences, and trade shows; conducting customer and employee visits; nurturing business development relationships; reviewing financial reports; and preparing proposals.


Karen has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Frostburg University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Wheeling Jesuit University. She lives in Charles Town, West Virginia with her two children, Brian (11) and Eric (8). She enjoys being a “hockey mom” supporting her two boys who play ice hockey for the Hagerstown Bulldogs.
