WID Background
WID (http://wid.ndia.org/), a National Security Organization and affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), provides its members with opportunities for professional development, networking, and cultivating the advancement of women leaders in government and industry professions. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, WID consists of nine chapters: Chesapeake Bay, Capital, Iowa/Illinois, Monmouth, Picatinny, Rocky Mountain, San Diego, and Tennessee Valley, and the Greater Frederick Chapter. There is also a sister chapter in Ottawa, Ontario called Women in Defense and Security (WIDS).
Membership in WID is open to all professional women and men whose primary professional activities are related to national defense or any aspect of national security. Members represent large and small defense companies, all branches of the Armed Forces, federal government agencies, academia, and associations.

Chapter Establishment
The Greater Frederick Chapter of WID was established on October 13, 2006. Our Bylaws provide guidance and policies to our chapter from the National WID organization, which is affiliated with the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA).

Also, you’ll notice that Karen Dickman and Diane Yarnell are double-hatted right now; we would like more individuals to step up to director positions in the future, so please let us know if you are interested in a leadership position.
